The Illinois State Police are investigating an early morning car accident that took place on U.S. 34, less than a mile east of Carman Road. While little details are available, Police report, two people are in the hospital and the accident involved a car and a tractor trailer. Condtions of the drivers are not available at this time.

Three people are dead after their car was hit by a freight train in Southern Illinois yesterday.The car was in the railroad crossing and the 42-car train was unable to stop in time, says a railroad spokesman.The car was dragged approximately half a mile.
